The human heart longs to be one with another. It is the theme of so many songs and poems and the thoughts of untold millions. Being one with another is planted deep within us by our Creator Who Himself is One with Another. This Oneness that God is, is why we also desire to be one. And yet we are one with many others already for whatever we give our heart to and even our body to will become one with us. This is the danger of idolatry.
There are many gods it seems, said Paul, but for us there is ONLY ONE GOD–THE FATHER!
1Co 8:4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
1Co 8:5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),
1Co 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
God wants us to know our union with Him in just the same way that Jesus is one with the Father. He wants that to be our conscious reality here in this life on this earth. Jesus prayed that this would be the case.
Consider that Jesus said, “In that day you shall know that I am in the Father and you in Me and I in you.” (John 14:20) What day was Jesus referring to?
On this page I will be posting links to pertinent writings that reveal our oneness with God.
